Oklahoma high school students and their families have a unique opportunity to learn about college choices and financial assistance during College Goal Sunday, a state-wide event.
The annual emphasis provides one-on-one advice about financial aid and college planning. Oklahoma Baptist University will host Shawnee’s CGS event Sunday, Feb. 11, from 2-4 p.m., in OBU’s Bailey Business Center.
General information about college requirements and financial aid will be available. Students also will receive assistance in filling out financial aid applications and forms. In addition, information about benefits of college, student support services, and degree programs will be available.
“This event is a service for anyone in our area who is exploring college options,” said Bob Womack, OBU’s student financial services director. “OBU student financial services staff will conduct the Shawnee session.
“The information is not specifically for OBU, but to assist anyone thinking about attending any college, anywhere,” said Womack.
More than 30 higher education institutions are participating in College Goal Sunday. For a complete list of participating colleges and universities is available at www.okhighered.org or by calling 800-858-1840.
College Goal Sunday is supported by the Lumina Foundation, the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, Oklahoma GEAR UP, Oklahoma Guaranteed Student Loan Program, Sonic restaurants, and Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
