Class of ‘56 Uses Technology to Stay in Touch

Many think only young people utilize the internet to keep up with friends. While high school and college students surf the web to chat and instant message, the internet is not just for students anymore.

Oklahoma Baptist University’s Class of 1956 has created a website to help their class stay in touch. The site,, features contact information for graduates and their friends.

The website also contains a memorial section to honor those classmates who have died. John E. Cleek is the webmaster, and Berdie Lou Moose Hope helped to track down contact information.

“My role has been to capture our collective memories and share them in a format that all can enjoy,” said Hope. “Our book of memories is dedicated to the professors and classmates who enriched our lives during our years on Bison Hill. We remember fondly those who are no longer with us and seek to honor them with our lives.”

The Class of 1956 will have its 50th anniversary reunion at OBU’s Homecoming, Nov. 10-11. The Class has selected a memorial scholarship in the name of Katherine Rader as their reunion gift to the university.

The class of 1956 will kick off the reunion festivities at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 10 in the upper level of OBU’s Geiger Center. The class of 1951 and the 50-year club also will gather for reunion events Friday morning.
