Dr. Stanley Warren will perform as part of the fifth annual Vocal Honors Academy on Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Oklahoma Baptist University’s Yarborough Auditorium.
Warren, a former OBU faculty member, is currently associate professor of voice and coordinator of vocal studies at Union University in Jackson, Tenn. He earned his master’s degree and performer’s certificate from the Eastman School of Music and has frequently appeared with various music festivals at home and abroad.
The Vocal Honors Academy is a two-day event for outstanding students from select Oklahoma high school choral programs. The academy is designed to develop and polish the talent and skills of young singers who may be considering music as a career.
Participants in the VHA will experience private lessons from voice professors, performance technique master class and sight–singing class. They also will attend the guest artist recital with Warren.
“The Vocal Honors Academy truly benefits the students who participate and the schools they represent. This year will be a privilege with my former colleague, Stan Warren, returning as a guest clinician to assist with this endeavor.” Said Rhetta Hudson, OBU associate professor of music.
