Ten Join OBU Faculty

Ten faculty members are beginning their service at Oklahoma Baptist University this semester.
Holly Easttom, who has served as instructor of journalism at OBU since 2000, was promoted to assistant professor of journalism. She earned her bachelorís and masterís degrees at the University of Central Oklahoma.
Michael Bruce, the universityís television production manager and an adjunct lecturer since 1998, was promoted to assistant professor of communication arts. He earned his bachelorís degree at OBU and his masterís degree at the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Jeff Pounders, associate professor of sociology, begins his first semester as an associate professor of sociology at OBU after teaching 14 years at Ouachita Baptist University. He earned his bachelor degree at Ouachita Baptist University and a masterís degree in social work at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. He earned a masterís of divinity degree and a Ph.D. degree at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Dr. Keith Harman, professor of business, comes to OBU after teaching at Northcentral University in Prescott, Ariz. He earned his bachelorís, masterís and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Oklahoma. He also earned a masterís degree in finance and operations management at Webster University in St. Louis, Mo, and did a post-doctoral study at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Gene King, associate professor of business, begins his first year at OBU after concluding a nine-year tenure at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark. He earned his bachelorís degree and his master of international management degree at Baylor University.
After teaching four years at the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Michael Dean, assistant professor of piano, starts his first year at OBU. He earned two bachelor degrees, in piano performance and mathematics, at Minnesota State University-Moorhead, and earned his master of music degree at OU. Dean is working toward a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at OU.
Judith McGee, assistant professor of art, comes to OBU after teaching seven years at Montgomery Community College. She earned her bachelorís degree and her master of education degree at the University of Central Oklahoma.
Dr. Mark McQuade, assistant professor of music, taught vocal performance at the University of Mississippi before coming to OBU. He earned his bachelorís degree at Oberlin College Conservatory of Music in Oberlin, Ohio. He earned his masterís degree at OU and his doctorate at the University of Mississippi.
Cathy Buchanan, who joins the OBU School of Nursing as an assistant professor, previously was director of the obstetrics and gynecology department at Shawneeís Unity Hospital. A registered nurse, she earned her bachelorís degree at Baylor and her masterís degree at OU.
Jeri Hargrave, also an assistant professor in the School of Nursing, has served the past three years as a nurse practitioner in Atoka, Okla. She previously worked at the Sherman Cardio Center in Sherman, Texas. Hargrave earned her bachelorís degree at East Central University and her masterís degree at Texas Womanís University.
