Youth Groups Get The “Big Picture”
July 17, 2006
Several Oklahoma Baptist church youth ministries are literally getting the “big picture,” thanks to a unique program OBU is offering during Falls Creek 2006.
Throughout the seven weeks of Falls Creek, OBU is hosting a weekly drawing for 42” plasma television. Churches are eligible to enter the drawing if their youth complete an application for a $500 OBU Falls Creek Scholarship.
“We wanted to raise awareness of our Falls Creek scholarship, and the television giveaway seemed to be a good way to heighten visibility while we add a little interest for the churches,” said Trent Argo, OBU dean of enrollment management.
OBU handles delivery of the televisions to the winning churches following the drawings each Friday evening. If the group prefers, OBU will provide an LCD projector instead of the television.
The Falls Creek Scholarship was launched to provide Oklahoma Baptist youth with a convenient way to gain scholarship aid while participating in the largest Baptist youth camp program in the nation.
Students can register for the scholarship each year, and can use the $500 scholarship each year for up to four years, based on the number of years they received a scholarship certificate during Falls Creek.
Weekly winners through July 14 include:
Church of the Journey, Oklahoma City
Trinity Baptist Church, Bristow
Midway Hill Baptist Church, Davis
Northeast Baptist Church, Ponca City
Silo Baptist Church, Durant
