The Oklahoma Baptist University Chorale gives its final performance of the semester on Tuesday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m., in Raley Chapelís Yarborough Auditorium. This spring concert follows a successful spring break concert tour to Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, New Jersey, Tennessee and Arkansas.
The universityís Chorale will perform a variety of selections including works by Renaissance composers such as Victoria, Palestrina, Beethoven and Bruckner. Contemporary composers such as John Rutter and Daniel E. Gawthrop also are represented.
Arrangements by Mark Hayes and Nancy Hill Cobb, former Chorale director, will be featured. Current OBU senior Michael Ware, from Oklahoma City, will have four arrangements on the program.
Dr. David DeSeguirant, OBU director of choral activities and associate music professor, is finishing his first year as conductor of the Chorale. A 1986 OBU graduate, he returned to his alma mater in 2005 after serving nine years as associate professor of music and director of choral activities at the University of the Ozarks, in Clarksville, Ark.
DeSeguirant earned a bachelor of music degree in music theory and composition, and completed master of music and choral conducting and doctor of musical arts and choral conducting degrees from the University of Oklahoma.
