Wanda Robinson Achieves National Certification

Wanda Robinson, OBU assistant professor of nursing, recently achieved national certification as a Certified Nurse Educator through the National League for Nursing. She is one of only 174 nurses from 45 states who met the requirements and successfully passed the first nurse educator national credentialing examination in the fall of 2005.

Robinson’s preparation involved three graduate courses, which she was already taking, and her teaching at OBU. The 1986 OBU graduate said because of the way the university’s nursing program is set up, there is a lot of faculty involvement with curriculum development and with nursing students.

Robinson was a partner and founder of Advanced Mental Health Care from 1994-2002. In addition to her teaching and her work as university counselor, she frequently provides presentations in her specialty areas of psychiatric and mental health, chemical dependency, and the utilization of technological and interactive classroom teaching.

She was co-coordinator of the “CE for Excellence in Mental Health in the School Setting” project for the State of Oklahoma.

Robinson earned a bachelor of science degree from OBU and completed her master of science degree from the University of Oklahoma. She currently is pursuing a doctorate in nursing from Indiana University-Indianapolis.
