| "Take me there! To the parties! To the world!" Jacob Louis and Keri Dee Burman perform in The Fantasticks |
April 13, 2006
Known as the longest running musical and the longest running show in American theatre history, The Fantasticks will be OBU Theatre’s final production of the 2005-06 season. Performances will be in Oklahoma Baptist University’s Craig-Dorland Theatre April 20-21 and 28-29 at 7:30 p.m. and April 22 at 2:30 p.m.
Created by Tom Jones, who wrote the book and lyrics, and Harvey Schmidt, who wrote the music, The Fantasticks tells the deceptively simple story of a boy and a girl whose parents plot to get them together by keeping them apart. Featured in the musical are well-known and well-loved songs such as “Try to Remember” and “Soon It’s Gonna Rain.”
The lovers are played by Keri Dee Burman, a senior vocal performance and musical theater emphasis major from Edmond, Okla., who plays Louisa; and Drew Prince, a freshman theatre major from Tomball, Texas, who plays Matt.
