OBU To Honor Mozart’s 250th with 25 Hours of Music
April 7, 2006
OBU students and faculty will celebrate the birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with “25 Hours of Mozart: One Hour for Every Ten Years,” a non-stop production from 3 p.m. Monday, April 10, to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 11 at 4 p.m.
The 25 uninterrupted hours of Mozart, honoring his 250th birthday, will feature a wide range of performances, both polished and unpolished.
“The idea is to have 25 uninterrupted hours of Mozart,” said Dr. Kristen Todd, associate professor of music. Organizers have encouraged a range of performances, from kazoo sonatas to a Requiem sing-along.
The event will be in Raley Chapel’s Yarborough Auditorium. Faculty members have volunteered to be in charge of the marathon on hourly shifts.
“This is a great community builder, a chance to make some music without pressure or stress, and best of all, this was a student idea,” said Todd.
Admission is free throughout the event.
