|Dr. Marilyn Haller speaks at the OATE Meeting|
March 15, 2006
Dr. Marilyn Haller, Violet Sturgeon Minton professor of education at Oklahoma Baptist University, has been elected president of the Oklahoma Association of Teacher Educators.
OBU, in collaboration with Shawnee Public Schools, will host the OATE State Conference on Oct. 6, 2006. It will be the first time for the conference to meet in Shawnee.
“I am excited for the teachers and administrators of our district to have the opportunity to serve on panels and make presentations at the conference,” said Marilyn Bradford, superintendent of Shawnee Public Schools.
Haller said the conference is designed to take the theory of the university level to the classrooms, and share teachers’ hands-on knowledge with higher education representatives.
“An outstanding teacher award will be presented, and we hope that a representative from the Governor’s office will be able to make that presentation,” said Haller. “This is a wonderful opportunity for those at the university level to collaborate and learn with and from those teaching in the real world school settings.”
