Oklahoma Baptist University student Brad King was co-recipient of the Best Paper Award, Non-U.S. category, at the annual meeting of the Oklahoma Association of Professional Historians and Phi Alpha Theta regional conference. The meeting was March 4 at East Central University in Ada, Okla.
King, a senior English major from Altus, Okla., won for his paper, “Gladstone and Disestablishment: A Remorseful Conservative,” which utilized of recently discovered letters and papers exchanged by British Prime Minister William Gladstone and Roman Catholic Cardinal Henry Manning.
Almost 50 presentations were made at the conference by scholars from OBU, the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, the University of Central Oklahoma, East Central University, Northeastern State University, Oklahoma Christian University, Cameron University, Langston University, Oklahoma City University and the University of New Orleans.
