Music Historian Gives Special Presentation at OBU

Oklahoma Baptist University Honors Music Department, in collaboration with the Distinguished Speakers Committee, will feature Dr. Neil Lerner, an associate professor of music at Davidson College, on Sunday, Feb. 26, and Monday, Feb. 27.

Lerner will speak on “Talking about Music and Why It Matters” on Sunday at 7 p.m. in the upper level of OBU’s Geiger Center.

On Monday, he will address “Trends in U.S. Popular Music” in Bailey Businees Auditorium at 10 a.m., and discuss “Popular Music in the 50s” at 3:15 p.m. in the upper level of the Geiger Center.

Lerner will conclude his visit by giving a special presentation and performance at 7 p.m. in the Geiger Center. The presentation is titled, “Music in Early Film: The Example of the Confederate Ironclad.”
