Dr. Ronnie W. Floyd, pastor of First Baptist Church of Springdale, Ark., is the scheduled speaker for the Wednesday, Oct. 25 chapel service at Oklahoma Baptist University. The service will be in the university's Noble Complex at 10 a.m. and is open to the public.
Floyd holds a bachelor of science degree from Howard Payne University and a master of divinity degree and doctor of ministry degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He is the author of nine books; his latest book, Life on Fire, was released this month by Word Publishing.
Floyd has spoken at five Promise Keepers conventions, including the convention in Washington D.C. in which an estimated 1.2 million men participated.
He has been very involved in the Southern Baptist Convention, holding a variety of leadership roles such as president of the pastors' conference and chairman of the executive committee.
He began his ministry in Springdale in 1988 and has seen the congregation grow from 3,700 members to 12,000. The Sunday morning worship service is broadcast over the internet and also on The African Beacon, a radio program that is broadcast in Africa seven days a week.
Floyd and his wife Jeana have two sons, Josh and Nick.
