Smith and Compton Pair Up For Fall Challenge

Vertical Music recording artist Jami Smith and Oklahoma Baptist University director of religious activities Odus Compton will join forces as worship leaders for OBU's Fall Challenge, Aug. 23-25.

The duo will lead chapel services at 10 a.m. on the 23rd and 25th and at 6:15 p.m. on the 23rd and 24th. Fall Challenge will be in the university's Noble Complex Gymnasium.

Both Smith and Compton are OBU graduates.

Smith graduated from OBU in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in music education. She is a native of Chickasha.

She produced six independent albums prior to the 1999 release of her self-titled album "Jami" by Vertical.

A seasoned worship leader, Smith has led music for Passion conferences, OneDay, the National Acteens Conference, and the Student Live Conference. Her songs are featured on the Passion c.d. and the WoW Worship c.d.

Compton serves as director of Baptist Collegiate Ministries at OBU in addition to religious activities.

He earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology in 1987. He also earned a master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He is married to Paula Kay and they have four children.

OBU's Welcome Week begins Aug. 19 and classes begin the 23rd.
