Carol Mannahan
Mannahan started with a diploma in nursing, and served in the U.S. Army for two years & worked in a small mountain hospital in California. Later, she obtained the BSN, a master’s degree (management focus) and a doctorate in higher education administration. Her clinical work has been in a variety of medical-surgical areas.
She worked with the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing for 19 years before retiring a year ago. Prior to her work at OU, she taught at UCO for six years and before that, held a variety of management and clinical positions.
In her faculty role, she has taught several baccalaureate and graduate courses. For the last few years her teaching is primarily with the senior students in their leadership course, and with graduate students in policy and ethics and the administrative/management practicum. She also coordinated the Clinical Nurse Leader pathway. Her administrative responsibilities included faculty orientation and training, coordination of the college’s continuing education program, and developing many leadership development initiatives.
Mannahan currently works with health care organizations throughout the state on matters related to interdisciplinary team building, documentation, accreditation, delegation, and management development. She teaches as an adjunct professor for several universities in the areas of health policy and leadership.
She lives in Edmond with her husband, cats and dog. She enjoys keeping up with her grown children, working on various home and church projects, and volunteering at the zoo. She reads a lot, loves music and movies and is learning to live a healthy lifestyle.
