Will Smallwood

Vice President for University Advancement


Will Smallwood was named vice president for university advancement at Oklahoma Baptist University in May 2010. Smallwood came to OBU after serving as director of development for The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

In his role at OBU, Smallwood serves as the university's chief development officer and advises President David Whitlock on management and operation of university development, as well as donor relations. He also directs the university's programs in resource development and alumni. Since his arrival, OBU has raised more than $38 million toward the $42 million Vision for a New Century Capital Campaign.

He served as a pastor in Kentucky and preaches frequently at churches in Oklahoma. He and his wife Caroline are members of Immanuel Baptist, Shawnee, where they are active in student teaching and discipleship. A native of Ocala, Fla., Smallwood earned a bachelor's degree in public relations from the University of Florida. He earned a master's degree in theology from Southern Seminary in May 2008, where he is finishing his doctoral dissertation in the areas of biblical spirituality and church history.
