Seven Questions we wish someone would ask, but no one ever does
What will four fantastic days of Welcome Week cost me? Absolutely nothing. Welcome Week is done as part of your normal tuition and fees. In fact, it is so free that if you see Tri-Ws walking around on Move-In Day carrying official Welcome Week shirts, and you give them $15, they will give you a free shirt.
Est-ce que la semaine de bienvenu est obligatoire? Or, is Welcome Week required? No, it's a given.
Let me understand this: we're in a small group and a large group or was that a small, medium, and a large? You will be in both small and large groups during Welcome Week. The first session you're with the whole new student class, then you're with your small group several times, and every once in a while 2 or 3 small groups will get together.
Clarify something - what role do my folks play in Welcome Week? After move-in, there is a New Parent Orientation on Saturday afternoon from 3-4:30, followed by an opportunity for your parents to meet OBU's president. Then there's Last Goodbye from 5-5:30. Your parents are certainly welcome to stay after that, but the Welcome Week activities and events are designed just for new students and the Tri-Ws.
Oh, please, tell me, is there some way of capturing a memory of Welcome Week that I can keep forever? Typically, an official Welcome Week videographer will roam the campus filming the week and have copies of the video for sale.
Meals, food? When do we eat? Saturday lunch is on your own, Saturday dinner is on us, and your campus meal plan kicks in on Sunday morning.
Everything takes place in four days, huh? Even meeting my advisor, meeting faculty, meeting my roommate, meeting myself coming and going, checking my enrollment, finding out where my classes are, buying books, getting set up on e-mail, etc., etc.? Absolutely. And remember, don't try this at home, we're professionals; we've seen this done before. Come try it at your home away from home. |
