What is Intramurals?
The Intramural Program at Oklahoma Baptist University is designed to provide an opportunity for every student to participate in organized recreational competition. Structured leagues and tournaments are offered in a diverse array of sport activities from flag football and softball to sand volleyball and racquetball. So satisfy your urge to play - read on and learn how to become involved in OBU intramurals just for the fun of it.
But I Don't Know Anyone...
Individuals as well as teams are encouraged to participate in intramurals. Teams are usually formed from residence halls, student organizations, hometown affiliations, and often simply groups of friends. However, if you want to play but don't have a doubles partner or don't know enough people to form a team, don't fret, we can still get you involved. All you need to do is submit a Free Agent Form to the Intramural Office (Noble Complex) one day before the particular sport's entry deadline. Your name will be available to any other individual as well as team captain's looking for players or partners. We will either form a team from other free agents or try to get you placed on an existing team. Additional information is available by calling 878-2140.
Who Can Play Intramurals?
All current full-time/Part-time students, faculty, and staff at Oklahoma Baptist University are eligible to enjoy all intramural privileges. Members of the intercollegiate teams are not eligible to participate in an intramural sport (or related sport) in which they are a member. A "red shirt" athlete is also considered part of the team. Members of OBU Junior Varsity teams are eligible to participate in a similar sport, but only two per team. Please contact the coordinator of Intramurals, Mike Manlapig, in the Intramural Office if you have eligibility questions.
Is There Risk Involved?
The Oklahoma Baptist University KALS/Intramural Department strives to conduct all activities in the most prudent manner possible. However, due to the inherent risk of accident or injury in any activity, it is the responsibility of each participant to be aware there are assumed risks involved in participation and that participation is entirely voluntary.
How Do I Enter a Team?
Individual and team roster/waiver forms are available in the Intramural office in Noble Complex. To enter; just complete all of the necessary information (roster must be signed by everyone who will be participating), and return it to the Intramural Office before the entry deadline for that particular sport. There will be a mandatory captain's meeting before each league begins.
How Do I Myself in an Individual or Dual Tournament?
To enter an individual or dual sport, stop by the Intramural Office prior to the entry dates and pick up an information sheet for the sport in which you are interested. This sheet will address tournament dates, levels of play, and rules. Once you determine that you want to enter, merely stop by the Intramural Office and sign up to play. There will be a meeting for all participants before the tournament begins.
Where Do We Play?
The intramural activities are played at Oklahoma Baptist University. The indoor sports take place in the Noble Complex and the outdoor intramural sports take place on the lighted Intramural fields.
