Upcoming creative happenings in Oklahoma City

It’s mid-February of the spring semester. The business and rush of the semester starting and being bogged down with snow days have started to dissolve. Things are slowly but surely slipping back into their everyday routines, and you may (or may not) be looking for something to rev up your inspiration and give you back your zest for life.
Although it may not be the Mecca of the creativity and fun world, Oklahoma City sure does have a lot of entertaining and interesting things to offer. Here are a few highlights: First, starting with Friday, Feb. 18 and 19, Oklahoma Christian University will be hosting a performance of “The Crucifer of Blood,” a play based on Sir Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes mysteries.
The play will also continue the next weekend, Feb. 25 and 26. The event will begin at 8 p.m. and will be presented in Judd Theater.
Next, The University of Central Oklahoma Jazz Lab will be hosting a concert on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. The performers include Natalie Syring and the Melodic Treasures, costing only 10 dollars.
Feb. 24-27, St. Gregory’s University will be presenting “Hedda Gabler,” a play challenging the role of women in society. The play will premiere Feb. 24 at 8:00 p.m., as well as Feb. 25 and 26 at 8:00 p.m. and Feb. 27 at 3:00 p.m.
Serving as another local event, The Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art located at St. Gregory’s University will be hosting an opening for an art exhibit entitled “Passed to the Present: Prehistoric Casas Grandes and Contemporary Mata Ortiz Pottery Traditions” beginning February 25th.
The Performing Arts Center, located in the historic Norman depot, will be hosting a “Winter Wind Concert” on Feb. 27th, at 7:00 p.m. This concert will spotlight violinist, Arvel Bird and his broad range of musical styles and talent.
