- You may use the computers in Thurmond Hall or Bailey Business Center labs (View the lab schedule here), the library (View the library schedule here), the Geiger Center, the computer labs in each dorm, or with your own computer via an ethernet cable.
How do I connect my machine to the campus network?
- You may either connect from your dorm room using an ethernet cable, or you may connect to one of the wireless networks listed above. For a wired connection, you will need a cat5e or cat6e ethernet cable, not a crossover cable.
What kind of internet connection does the school have?
- The campus has a 100Gb fiber connection. There are two loops, a North loop (from the Art building to WUA) and South loop (From Shawnee to MacArthur).
Can I put wireless internet in my dorm room?
- The university does not allow for you to set up your own wireless router, but you may use a wired connection or each dorm's computer lab.
How can I use my game system on the network?
- Make a ticket via the HelpDesk, and you will be sent an e-mail after it has been enabled. You will need your ID#, Residence hall, Room#, Phone#, and System MAC address (Click here to find your mac address on your system).
Why can't I access my internet drives?
- You may not be logged on to the OBU network. Open Novell by right clicking the big red "N" at the bottom right corner of your system (once already logged in to Windows) and click "Novell Login". Use your login credentials specified here.
I have tried several times to log on, but am not successful. Now it says I need to contact my Network Administrator. Why?
- After three failed attempts to log on using the same account, the account becomes locked out. This policy ensures others do not try to hack another user's account. If you are locked out, contact the HelpDesk.
- Also if your password expires you only have 6 grace logins before being 'Locked Out'. Moodlerooms, cisco, netstorage, library, etc will all use 1 grace login for every time you login to use those services.
