| OBU Golf History
Golf at Oklahoma Baptist University began in 1941 and hit its first peak in 1972 when the Bison placed 11th at the NAIA National Tournament.
After 1978, the program became a club team until it eventually did not exist in the 1990s.
The programs were added as scholarship sports in 1997-1998 for the men and 1998-99 for the women under Coach Jess Partridge, who labored to get the programs off the ground with limited scholarships.
Partridge resigned in 2001 and Shawnee businessman Rick Cody succeeded him.
Cody inherited a program that competes in one of the toughest overall golf regions in the NAIA. |
