Chris Klimas was promoted from assistant baseball coach to associate baseball coach in 2011. He completed his playing career at Oklahoma Baptist University in 2001 and joined the coaching staff in 2002 as the junior varsity coach.
Klimas, a product of Broken Arrow High School, was a two-year starter at catcher and will be best remembered for his 11th-inning home run to eliminate top-ranked Oklahoma City in the 2000 Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament in Bricktown. The game advanced the Bison to the Region Tournament.
In his two years at OBU, Klimas caught three pitchers who are now pitching under professional contracts. He batted .306 his senior season in 2001 and was error free in 370 chances, a new OBU record.
Klimas also played two years at Collin County Community College in 1999, earning an associate’s degree. He left CCCC with school records for career batting average (.392) and single season batting average (.400). He was All-Conference and All-Region in 1999.
While at BAHS, Klimas was All-Conference in baseball and All-District in football.
