Planning Suggestions

1. High school students are encouraged to take the ACT or SAT in the spring semester of their junior year and apply for admission as early in their senior year as possible. (Receipt of financial aid is dependent on acceptance for admission.)

2. In January of the high school senior year, parents should consider filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which is required for grants, loans or college Work-Study. Preference is given for filing prior to March 1.

3. Students are encouraged to visit the campus as part of the college search process. An appointment for a campus visit or Preview Day may be made by calling the Admissions Office at 800.654.3285.

Recommended High School Curriculum
High school graduation is required, but in addition, it is recommended that students include the following in their high school program:

English
Four units of college preparatory English. Journalism, yearbook or business English should not be used as substitutes.

Mathematics
Three units including algebra I, algebra II and geometry. Those intending to pursue the Bachelor of Science or the Bachelor of Science in Education in science or mathematics education are encouraged to take as much mathematics as possible, including trigonometry and calculus.

Science
Two units of laboratory science, including chemistry and a biological science. General science is not recommended as one of the two units. Those intending to pursue the Bachelor of Science or the Bachelor of Science in Education in science and mathematics education are encouraged to take an additional unit of laboratory science, such as physics, advanced chemistry or advanced biology courses.

Social Science
Two units, including American history. World history is helpful if it is available.

Language
Two units in the same language.
