A long-standing tradition of Oklahoma Baptist University has been the provision of a residential campus. This position has been affirmed through research, which reveals that if students remain in campus housing they are more likely to complete their college education, develop a strong spiritual formation, participate in campus activities, adjust to various social situations, and establish life-long friendships with students and faculty. For this reason OBU requires all unmarried students under 21 to reside in University housing.

SECTION TWO: Application to Live Off Campus While Attending OBU
Please initial the criteria below that you meet for living off campus. Please be aware that the housing office will be in contact with you regarding the status of your off-campus application. To learn more about OBU’s on-campus living policy, you may locate information in The OBU Green Book (student handbook) on the web at http://www.okbu.edu/greenbook/page9.htm.

All unmarried students enrolled in eight or more hours must reside in University housing except students who meet one of the following criteria:
1. I will reside with my parent(s) or immediate family and I will provide a letter from my parent/guardian which includes the details of where and with whom I will be living.
2. I have secured employment for which payment is or includes housing and I will provide a letter from my employer on business letterhead detailing the housing and compensation arrangement.
3. I have attained the age of 21 or shall during the semester for which the request is made.
4. I have attained senior status (minimum of 90 credit hours) prior to the semester for which the request is made.
5. I will enroll in fewer than eight credit hours for the semester for which the request is made.

SECTION THREE: Application to Reside On Campus While Attending OBU

The Housing Office cannot guarantee your first choice of residence hall, floor, room, or roommate, but requests will be honored WHEN POSSIBLE. Requests will be processed based upon the date of acceptance, the receipt of this application, the receipt of the $125 enrollment guarantee, and upon availability of residence hall space.
