My degree options:
What makes an OBU Music degree special?
The Bachelor of Arts in Music degree is designed for the student interested in obtaining a solid musical foundation, while at the same time exploring the wider area of humanities: literature, history, philosophy, sociology and others. B.A. Music students are musicians who cast a wide net across all disciplines by taking a variety of non-music courses and interacting with the broader humanities. They engage others from a musical perspective and learn to find relevance and meaning in music not just through music study, but by this wider interaction.
What are OBU grads doing with their Music degrees?
Bachelor of Arts in Music students have diverse post-graduate opportunities available to them. The world is searching for thinking, creative people, and B.A. Music students fit that profile by serving in churches and non-profit organizations, by leading arts organizations and by working with musicians and artists in collaborative ventures both in profit and not-for-profit arenas. B.A. Music graduates also explore graduate school options – in areas such as music history, arts management, music therapy, and non-arts-related areas.
What courses can I take?
Bachelor of Arts in Music students take the common music core of courses which prepare them to be solid, creative musicians. In addition, B.A. Music students explore elective areas which align with their own interests, and can generally explore a variety of areas which might assist them in their post-graduate goals.
