Religion

The Department of Religion offers curricula supporting three majors in religion (Departmental, Bible and Biblical Languages) as well as a minor in religion. Basic courses in the Unified Studies curriculum (US 101, 102, 307) introduce the student to Biblical interpretation and give some contemporary and practical application of Biblical teaching. These Unified Studies courses are described in the Unified Studies section of the catalog on page 48.

Students preparing for Christian ministry who do not major in religion should seriously consider taking a minor in religion or at least several elective hours in religion and/or applied ministry as preparation for seminary studies and future ministry. If the student intends to prepare for a ministry for which the Department of Religion does not offer a formal major (e.g. religious journalism, counseling, evangelism), he or she should consider: (1) a major/minor in religion and a minor/major in a related area (e.g., speech, psychology), (2) a double major, or (3) an interdisciplinary concentration.
