Dr. John Nichols teaches all levels of mathematics. He has published and presented many articles including “Software Reuse Business Model - A Successful Application of Groupware” and “A Performance Profile on the Use of a Knowledge-Based, On-line Supplement for Intermediate Algebra.” In 2002 and 2007, Dr. Nichols received the Seven Who Care Award from OBU. He has also been named to Who’s Who in the South and the Southwest and served as Chief of all Chiefs for the South Pinhook Nation of the YMCA Indian Princesses in Huntsville, Alabama. In April 2004, Dr. Nichols was named Area 3 Director for the Oklahoma Gideons, in April 2007, he was selected as the State Chaplain for the Oklahoma Gideons, and in April 2010, he was selected as the State Secretary.
He is a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee. At Immanuel Baptist Church and at other area churches, Dr. Nichols teaches Discipleship Training classes on topics such as Baptist History, Islam, Mormonism, and the Reformation. Through Immanuel Baptist Church and OBU, Dr. Nichols has been on three overseas mission trips -– twice to China and once to Ecuador. His wife Edna is a retired first grade teacher. He and Edna have two grown children, Chris and Cynthia, who both graduated from OBU.
