Cindy has been Assistant Professor of Nursing since 1996. She previously was an instructor of Nursing at the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing. She is recognized as an advanced practice nurse by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Community Health Nursing. She maintains national certification as a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
Areas of expertise include: Public Health Nursing, Disaster Preparedness and Response, Community Assessment, Maternal/Child wellness, Immunizations, Home Health, Case Management, and School Nursing. Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of community nursing opportunities Cindy has developed through the years. They have included: Youth & Family ServicesBHope House Youth Shelter and Children=s Services; Shawnee Public Schools & Oklahoma Parents as Teachers Program; and Disaster Preparedness training and activities in Pottawatomie County.
Cindy is a member of the Oklahoma Nurses Association (ONA); American Nurses Association (ANA); and the Oklahoma Public Health Association (OPHA) BNursing Section. She has served on the ONA Board as the Disaster Preparedness and Response Director from 2001-2006.
While at OBU, Cindy has provided services as a Home Health Nurse, Nurse Consultant and a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Community. She currently provides services as a Public Health Nurse.
