Paulette Belshe, assistant professor in the Division of Teacher Education, holds a doctor of philosophy degree in literacy education from The University of Oklahoma, a master’s degree in special education/learning disabilities from East Central University, and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from OBU.

Dr. Belshe, a reading specialist, holds current certification in elementary education, learning disabilities, and early childhood. She teaches classes in upper elementary level reading methods, reading assessment, language arts and children’s literature, including children’s early language development. In addition, she serves as coordinator of the America Reads Program in partnership with Shawnee Public Schools.

She taught many years at the public school level before joining the OBU community in 2003. Awards include the Lola C. Durham Excellence in Teaching Award and Tecumseh District Teacher of the Year. She is a member of First Baptist Church, Tecumseh.

Her husband, Gordon, also an OBU graduate, is founder and president of Belshe Industries, Inc., Tecumseh. They have two sons—Jim, a manager with Bearingpoint, Washington, D.C., and Rob, Shawnee, OK, a salesman with Belshe Industries, Inc.
