The program is designed to provide students with skills which will enable them to analyze literature and investigate its relationship to culture. It exposes students to significant works in British, American, and Continental literature and to the modes of criticism appropriate for interpreting them. It also provides opportunities for students interested in the history and nature of language or in the process of creative and/or expository writing to increase their understanding in these areas.
